Ok now onto the results.

[link]Hexadorah: Art wise this is the best of the group. The lines are crisp and the anatomy is well defined with vibrant colors and tones that reflect a mostly three dimensional nature. Most of the art elements are there to a good degree and it's sensible. The design I feel though is lacking in creativity and kaijuness. Hexadorah looks very much like a draconic Destoroyah from the yellow central horn to the shoulder spines to even the yellow diamond core to the pincer tail tip and the bat wings. All features that Destoroyah had in its final form but with crab/Godzilla anatomy. It also appears to be rather fragile. Built for speed and agility rather than close quarter combat. This is not necessarily a bad thing but a body with a little less obvious lanky, human proportions would have suited the design better I think. It's stats are present and rather sensical but its powers very much reflect its Destoroyahness with the laser beam horn and standard breath weapon. It also has a weakness to cold for crying out loud. There is really just too much Destoroyah in this kaiju. Its origins are pretty basic. Advanced alien race creates guardian, guardian goes berserk, aliens ship guardian into the depths of space, guardian finds its way to earth and creates chaos. No overall reason for why it went nuts, it just did. Not a lot of depth there, it does feel rather rushed. Knowing what she submited to my contest, I can say that she could have done much better concept and story wise.

[link]Karga: Despite the lower skill level, this quirky kaiju is a fun and amusing creation. Its like an Ultra universe version of Kiryu without the angst. It doesn't have blatant ability or features swapped from Kiryu however and is simply a solid example of the cyborg/mecha therapod archetype. It's colors mesh rather well and its face is very dynamic. It is rather obvious though that the art is at a lower level than most of the competition and could definitely use more balanced proportions and smoother line quality. Being a Mecha/cyborg, smooth and crisp lines are important to give that mechanical feel without it looking like a mangled mess. This artist needs more fundamental shape and anatomy practice. Aside from that, its a good concept. Stats are all accounted for though I do wonder why something that tall is that light compared to its predecessors. It has a good assortment of high tech weaponry, the machine gun in the mouth is a nice surprise and a unique part of the creature's character. Its origin is simple but very effective. It opens up many possibilities for plot developement. The answers to why the creature landed dead on arrival and inner dramas of piloting a cyborg as well as what they decide to do with it are all good plot points. There is plenty of diverse options for how to use Karga and I think thats a major selling point with this monster. Stating the creature's cables and tubes as a weak point is a genre savvy point, as is the fact that its armor could melt. Though it doesn't stat directly how Olragon could have come into the picture, the fact thats its a weapon of humanity for somebody means that conflict is probably inevitable. Overall, a good entry.

[link]Pharynex: I discovered this artist not too long ago and I've seen this monster before and loved it right away. Taking a closer look at it, its even better in light of this contest. Pharynex is a kaiju that fits seamlessly into the Olragon story. It has a unique shape and further more, it has a personality. The line quality and unfilled spots in the coloring are really the only thing holding this one back. I know not all of us have fancy tablets to do our digital coloring but a little more throughness in the final product would have helped a bit. On the bright side, it has a rather nice gradient flow to its colors and skin textures and it gives it a shadowy monster of the deep look. Pharynex also has a nice degree of perspective and motion that the rest of the entries don't and that makes Pharynex all that more lively. Its abilities are basic but practical and it could be a real terror in the right context. Not every monster needs fancy lasers to be an effective fighter. This one could just bite your head off and crush you. It aversion to heat and light are also practical in keeping with sea monster tradition. The eye scar is a tad cliche, we've seen it a lot but this is actually Pharynex's motivation to fight Olragon. Him or a previous guardian took out that eye and he wants vengeance after a sub woke him up. The whole thing just simply works and style wise, this one fits Olragon the best.

[link]Alceida:...This...is what happens when low skill holds back a great concept. Its not bad, just immature as far as ability goes. It manages to look mostly like what it intends to but the faintness of the entire picture just kinda kills it for me. Its hard to see what details that are actually there. Thats just the skill part of it though. Design wise its yet another giant moth monster. Whats bizzare is that it has a body shape similar to a slug and that is pretty funny. A giant bee headed, moth winged, slug with mantis legs and tropical colors. Can't get much more kaiju than that folks. The patterns are -very- basic but as the creator mentioned, its easily subject to change...hints at psychodelic patterns perhaps? Who's to say? Anyway, the stats and bio is where this entry shows its merit. A creature that subconciously drains life force from around it? Why thats a almost like a living spirit bomb. Thats insanely awesome. Its also highly resistant to both extreme heat and extreme cold so the usual weaknesses are out. It has elements of Mothra and Megaguirus with the tail beam and other features. Its a nice combination all things considered. Apparently its concentrated laser beams and such that are her real bane. This naturally sets up a fight with Olragon as he has this for a primary ranged weapon. She also has less energy when there are no living things around to collect life from...that never stopped Goku lol. The origins are a perfect set up for both human characters (in parkas) and an eventual clash with Olragon. Why she would fight Olragon is a mystery but Mirma woke her up and a cranky monster is a dangerous monster. All angles of the bio are covered and the stats are well put together for something that was 'in a hurry'. So really, its just the poor art skill of the entry that keeps this from being flat out awesome.

Overall, I'd have to give Pharynex the win and Alceida second for making a great concept and following directions. Major thing I noticed that only these two used their bios to explain how these kaiju came into contact with Olragon in a manner of speaking. Pharynex wants revenge on a 'guardian' and Alcedia woke up after Mirma landed and raised cain. Hexadorah and Karga are just...there. Though Karga obviously has his creators and thus a large section of humanties's interests which may conflict with Olragon sooner or later. The best Hexadorah can come up with is just invade and blow shit up. Already did that with Mirma. So the battle for third is dependent on whether the skill of the entry or the character of the entry is more important. I'd have to give third to Karga myself, he could even take second if the art portion of the criteria is all that important. This is RenDragonClaw signing off, thank you and goodnight.
Judgement of

As I was judging the entries, I was not as elaborate as my pal Rendragonclaw, but overall my views on the entries were just about the same.
Hexadorah:
While Hexadorah was honestly perhaps the best illustrated entry, I have to admit that it did not make the cut to be in Olragon Revamped. While it was a good concept, the design was not completely original. Don't get me wrong I LOVE dragons, it is just that the Olragon universe is full of reptilian dragon-like creatures and one of the points of this contest was originality and to create something that we have not yet seen in the Olragon series. Overall I feel that the concept of Hexadorah is something we've all seen already.
Karga:
While this design did give me an odd sensation at first after several more looks it kind of grew on me. Why? It is something that has not been tried out in the Olragon universe. However while reading the story I did not find it very informative. I was expecting something more elaborate and get a sense of what this kaiju cyborg was really about. While I do like the design. Perhaps it could be like what Rendragonclaw said of the story eventually intertwining with Olragon's. Karga may not be the #1 winner of this contest, but I feel in the future if its story, character and design are enhanced Karga does have a bright future in my eyes

Pharynex:
Now this is what I am talking about! The design and story fitted my very expectations. Firstly the design its Naga-ish something I like and didn't expect and the story perfectly fits into the Olragon universe for a world of kaiju existed before Olragon's time and is seeking revenge upon the Guardians for perhaps them wiping out his kin with his primary foe Olragon. I do love the design and story and it would certainly fit into Olragon Revamped. Kudos to you Crimson-Vagrant

Alceida:
The illustration itself is not as skillful as the others, but its design and concept is not all that bad. Alceida is basically the Mothra of the Olragon universe and I was happy to read that Alceida's awakening was the result of Mirma's arrival to Earth during the events of OLRAGON. I also like how Alceida's the 'mother' of all the moths of Northern Siberia. Anyways despite the lower level skill of art put into this, I feel Alceida is one of our winners for its originality within the Olragon universe.
So here are the FINAL RESULTS based on the results Rendragonclaw and I have laid out

1st Place - Crimson-Vagrant's Pharynex
2nd Place - Telmatosaurus' Alceida
3rd Place - Kaijuart's Karga
I apologize Kim3707m that you didn't make the cut

. Good luck next time for I do plan to hold another art contest........sooner than you and everyone else thinks
